Jon Lancaster, started on pole in the first Portimao Formula race Renault 3.5 Series, won the first event of the weekend. Jon Lancaster was able to keep his position in front of Bertrand Baguette, who was very pressing throughout the race. The Belgian finally finished second and consolidated his lead in the FR 3.5 Series standings, of which he took control at Le Mans. Jaime Alguersuari finished third, after starting in seventh position, and earned his second podium of the season. He is ahead of the French Charles Pic and Guillaume Moreau.
