The arrival of the rain did not disturb Robert Wickens, who took pole for race 1 after setting a time of 1:44:782 on the Nürburgring circuit. The Carlin driver, who had dominated the free practice sessions the day before, is ahead of Alexander by 0??365 Red (Fortec Motorsports). Kevin Korjus (Tech 1 Racing) sets the third time at 0??633 and is ahead of the ISR driver Daniel Ricciardo (+0??685).

Jean-Eric Vergne (Carlin), Formula leader Renault 3.5 Series, is fifth at 0??796. Nathanael Berthon (ISR) is seventh while Nelson Panciatici (KMP Racing) is in ninth place. Arthur Pic (Tech 1 Racing), released yesterday during free practice, could not do better than 19th (+ 2??039).
