As preparations continue for the inaugural F1 Academy season, the new all-female championship in car, the instances of the Formula 1 want to showcase their new product as quickly as possible. If the 2023 calendar is independent of the premier category (except for the final in Austin at the end of October, which will be held as a curtain-raiser to the United States Grand Prix), the calendar for the 2024 season should be linked to that of F1.

In any case, this is what Stefano Domenicali, president of Formula 1, announced on the sidelines of the Australian Grand Prix. Objective: to highlight this new category as well as the female gems who participate in it.

“We have not yet started the 2023 season on the track, but I can confirm that next year the F1 Academy will be on the race weekends with Formula 1, Domenicali confirmed to Sky Sports F1 on Friday. Of course, not everywhere, but it will be part of the F1 Academy promotion plan. It's something that is really close to our hearts and which I hope will give the right boost for the season to gain momentum. »

A new step in the F1 Academy plan

This year, the F1 Academy is preparing for its inaugural season, with five teams run by teams from F2 as well as F3 current. Each entered three drivers each, to make up a grid of 15 cars across seven events and 21 races, all under the watchful eye of new managing director Susie Wolff.

“It’s great that the F1 Academy will be part of F1 races next year and it once again highlights the importance of the series to Stefano and the F1 team, rejoiced Susie Wolff. We can't wait to start the season in a few weeks and although there is a lot of work to do, we are forming a clear plan to build a project that really works for the future of female talent in motorsport. »

The first round of the 2023 season is scheduled for Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, on April 28-29, followed by the second round a week later at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain.
