Super Formula – Tomoki Nojiri in pole position at Autopolis

Reigning champion Tomoki Nojiri extends his streak of pole positions. After dominating the qualifying exercise at Suzuka and Fuji, the Team Mugen driver will start from first place on the starting grid thanks to his best time in Q2 of 1'24″529. Ritomo Miyata (TOM'S) will start alongside him, finishing 2 tenths behind the leader. Tadasuke Makino (Dandelion) seemed to be the fastest at Autopolis with the best time in his Qualifying group, but he ultimately completed the podium in 1'24″803.

On the French side, fortunes are diverse. Sacha Fenestraz (KONDO RACING) finished in 6th position, 4 tenths behind Tomoki Nojiri while Giuliano Alesi (TOM'S) did not make it through Q1 and had to settle for 17th position. As a reminder, last year the son of Jean Alesi won his first victory in Super Formula on the same Autopolis circuit.
