For his second competition on French soil, Northern Irishman Garry Jennings brilliantly won despite strong competition. Outgoing winner, Stéphane Lefebvre had set a great time in SS1 on an Xsara WRC rental before having to withdraw.

After a brief stint by the Englishman Taylor, the driver of the always competitive Subaru Impreza S12B then took the lead and never relinquished command despite the repeated efforts of Marc Amourette, leader of the R5 peloton.

The fight for the bronze medal was more closely fought; Wilt definitely turned the tables on Christiann in the last loop. Following the withdrawal of a brilliant Heuninck, Rebout entered the Top 5 ahead of Bayard.

In group N, Leduc dominated the debates against Flajolet and Philippe Lefebvre. Benefiting from the successive avatars of Perrin, Lacroix and Lézier, Legrand returned to success in F2000.
