Ott Tänak (Toyota) a lâché une douzaine de secondes sur ses rivaux principaux dans l’ES13 du Rally from Portugal. The Estonian suffered a spin and broke his right front shock absorber, a similar problem to that encountered by his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala who had to retire.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) a encore signé le scratch en bouclant les 37,6km d’Amarante en 25’02’’2. Le Belge a devancé Kris Meeke (Toyota) de près de 2 secondes et Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) of 3''5. Sebastian Loeb (Hyundai) a signé le 5e temps à 11’’5 de la référence. Gus Greensmith (M-Sport) est sorti de la route et s’est retrouvé bloqué dans un fossé alors qu’il occupait la 8e place.

Ott Tänak retains the lead of the Rally Portugal on the evening of the second stage with 4”3 ahead of Kris Meeke. Thierry Neuville came back to within 5 seconds of the Northern Irishman. Sébastien Ogier is now a dozen seconds behind the Belgian. Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) inherits 5th place following the retirement of Jari-Matti Latvala and is now ahead of Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) following the retirement of Gus Greensmith.
