Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) took advantage of his repaired i20 WRC to score the scratch on the second pass of El Montmell, SS10 of the Rally de Catalunya. The Belgian, who completed the 24,4km in 12'25''3, was a tenth ahead of his teammate Dani Sordo and Esapekka Lappi (Toyota). Ott Tänak (M-Sport) lost almost two seconds to the Spaniard while Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) finished more than three seconds behind the benchmark. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) failed by more than eight seconds. Kris Meeke (Citroën) finished only one second off the scratch.

Kris Meeke retains the lead in the RACC with a 13s lead over Dani Sordo who took second place for six tenths ahead of Ott Tänak. Sébastien Ogier thus lost a place by being two seconds behind his teammate. Andreas Mikkelsen remains in the top five but he sees Juho Hänninen come back to a second. Thierry Neuville gains a place against Mads Ostberg (M-Sport) but he is still 5 seconds behind the Toyota driver.
