Rally Finland 2019
Kris Meeke says he hit a stone in the same place as Latvala. The spectators would have told the Briton from Toyota that the stone was not there this morning, and that it must have rolled from the embankment.
Gutted. We hit a massive rock in fifth gear which broke the suspension. Spectators said it wasn't there this morning and must have rolled down from the bank. Same place as @JariMattiWRC pic.twitter.com/OVtL4nCsqH

Terrible SS for the Toyota clan with a car stopped in the SS (Meeke) and a puncture and damage for Latvala. Tänak took the opportunity to regain the advantage in the general classification, now with a 13″9 margin over Latvala and 14″4 over Lappi (Citroën).
Andreas Mikkelsen follows in fourth position at 36″6 with his Hyundai i20, and leads Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) in his wake, 2″5 behind the Norwegian. These two drivers took the advantage in this SS14 over Craig Breen (Hyundai), who admitted to not being on the pace.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) moved up to 7th place after the setbacks of Kris Meeke but 54″7 behind Tänak. Followed by the two Fords of Teemu Suninen and Gus Greensmith and the first WRC2 Pro of Kalle Rovanperä, still leader in the category ahead of Eric Camilli (Ford).
“In a right turn my notes were too fast and I went sideways and there was a big stone. » comments Latvala.
14″1 behind for Latvala, despite being in the lead in the first partial. The cause ? A left-rear puncture for the Finn, which also damaged the entire wheel arch.
Latvala loses seconds by handle on Tänak in this sector. The Estonian could widen the gap significantly on this 14th special stage of the Rally Finland.
Lappi is provisionally closest to Tänak at 8″1. The Citroën driver admits that he cannot do anything against the Toyotas. “It’s clearly down to performance. It's a good car, but we don't have enough downforce to beat Toyota on these roads. »
But helicopter footage shows the Yaris is damaged at the left rear wheel. A contact undoubtedly for the Briton.
Smoke is reported coming from the engine of Meeke's Yaris
Provisional best time for Ott Tänak (Toyota) in 9'00″1. That’s 8″6 better than Mikkelsen. “I feel sorry for Toyota (about Meeke), but the Yaris are attacking hard at the moment. »
Meeke seems to have stopped on a path at the side of the special stage. A hard blow for Toyota which monopolized the top 3 before this special.
Kris Meeke is reported arrested in the special!
Craig Breen fails 4″5 behind Mikkelsen, in 4th provisional position in this SS. The Irishman loses two positions against Mikkelsen and Ogier in the general classification. “I'm having trouble with the rear of the car. I was off the line sometimes, and I lost the rhythm.”
Andreas Mikkelsen took the provisional time reference in 9'08″7, 1″7 ahead of Ogier. “The feeling with the car is incredible,” says the Norwegian. I really enjoy my driving. I tried to step it up on this one because I lost a bit in the last one. »
Tänak once again seems to be setting a high pace in this SS14. Best 1st and 2nd partial for the Estonian from Toyota.
