The standings for Rally Poland further evolved at the end of SS16. The main victim in this sector was Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), immobilized at kilometer 12,9, after a probable technical problem on his Yaris. The Finn was in third position overall before this special, and will undoubtedly abandon his hopes of a good result on Polish soil.
Events then moved forward as Ott Tänak (Ford) finished without a rear wing on his Fiesta – M-Sport, however securing the fourth time of the special behind Hayden Paddon (Hyundai), Sébastien Ogier (Ford) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai ).
The Estonian, however, carried out an excellent operation since the previous leader of the rally Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was slowed down by a puncture on the left rear and lost more than 17″ on Tänak. The latter takes the lead of the race and is 14″4 ahead of Neuville.
Hayden Paddon took third place, 39″3 behind Tänak and is now ahead of Sébastien Ogier who has regained the advantage over Dani Sordo. Teemu Suninen (Ford) moved up to sixth position ahead of Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën), Mads Ostberg (Ford), Juho Hänninen (Toyota) and Elfyn Evans (Ford) who entered the top 10.
It is a technical problem which seems to be the cause of the roadside stop of Latvala (Toyota).

Ott Tänak (Ford) arrives at the finish of the special 5”5 behind Paddon’s provisional best time. The Estonian lost the rear wing of his Fiesta, and confirms that Latvala was stopped on the side of the road.
Hayden Paddon improves Sordo’s time to 10’23″4. The Hyundai driver was not beaten by Sébastien Ogier (Ford) who arrived straight away in 10’26″1. The Frenchman, however, took the opportunity to overtake Dani Sordo in the general standings.
Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) is announced to have stopped at kilometer 12,9! The Finn was third in the general classification before this SS16. Ott Tänak (Ford) passed the stationary Yaris.
