Rally Turkey 2019
Thank you for following this Rally of Turkey with us throughout the weekend. The full report and analysis of the event can be found in issue 2234 of AUTOhebdo, available from tomorrow evening in digital version and from this Wednesday on newsstands. Here is the final ranking of the race:
“That was the plan this weekend and it was really necessary,” underlines Ogier. We knew anything could happen here because there are some really difficult places. It's good for the team. We have to keep moving forward, there are still things to improve but I'm really happy to bring them victory this weekend. »
3″2 behind for Ogier at the finish, and 3rd time behind Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville. Jari-Matti Latvala and Teemu Suninen complete the top 5 of this Power Stage. But it is Sébastien Ogier the big winner of this Turkish weekend.
Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) is 3″5 behind Tänak in the first partial. 3rd provisional time behind the Toyota driver and Thierry Neuville.
“We had a puncture and I was just following the lines! Luckily we managed to be fast enough to be second so that's really good. » underlines Lappi.
18″ behind for the Lappi – Ferm duo and a second place assured for the no. 3 Citroën C4 WRC.
Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) appears behind on this Power Stage. The goal is the podium for the Finn... and try not to take bonus points from Sébastien Ogier.
“It was a good rally for us. We tried to stay out of trouble and managed our race well. The first pass of each stage was always good, but we need to watch and improve our pace on the second pass. » comments Mikkelsen.
6th provisional time (without bonus points) and a podium assured for Hyundai.
Andreas Mikkelsen doesn't force himself with his Hyundai i20. The Norwegian has already done most of the work for the brand with an important podium for the Manufacturers' championship.
Teemu Suninen (M-Sport Ford) finished 9″ behind Tänak. The final fourth place rewards the Finn at the end of a regular rally.
“Points were the goal for today. » recalls Sordo.
Dani Sordo (Hyundai) did not take any risks on this Power Stage, not entering the provisional top 5 at 12″8 from Tänak.
“The weekend was difficult but the main thing is that we finished the rally and did not suffer too much,” said Latvala. The car was strong but we lacked a bit of speed and I also made mistakes in a SS and with the settings. Wales Rally GB will be very different. »
3rd provisional time for Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) on this Power Stage, 7″3 behind his teammate Tänak.
“We didn’t have the tempo necessary to compete,” admits Meeke. The long ES on Saturday set us back. We have a lot of work to do with the car on this type of rally. »
Meeke concedes 9″5 on Tänak on this Power Stage.
Kris Meeke is not at the same tempo as Tänak, 8″7 behind in the 2nd partial.
“I gave everything,” confesses Neuville. That’s it, another tough weekend. There are three rallies left. Let's see what will happen. » The Belgian should finish 8th in the event.
Neuville almost touched the wall on the outside of the final turn and finished 2″6 behind Tänak.
