Rally Italy-Sardinia 2018
A little over 10′ before the start of the Power Stage of the Rally Italy.
In WRC2, Ole Chrisitan Veiby (Skoda Fabia R5) seems to be heading towards the best time in the category. If Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) remains a solid leader, Veiby takes advantage of SS19 to overtake Nicolas Ciamin (Hyundai i20 R5) for second place. 2″9 separate the two competitors before the Power Stage.
Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) was in backup mode on this SS. The Norwegian concedes more than a minute and preserves his tires for the final Power Stage.
The timecard Ogier / Ingrassia forgot to pick up the timecard after SS19 – which is required to check in the final Stage SS20!

Small anecdote to note: In a hurry, Sébastien Ogier left without the time book after SS19. The WRC indicates that Ott Tänak finally recovered the notebook to pass it on to the Frenchman.
16″1 behind for Teemu Suninen (M-Sport Ford) at the finish of this SS19. The driver of the British team sets the 5th provisional time while awaiting the arrival of Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai).
Ott Tänak (Toyota), who can still hope to take 8th place overall from Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5), sets the 3rd provisional time, 4″ behind Neuville.
Ogier did not comment on his performance in SS19 and heads to the Power Stage.
Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport Ford) completed the SS in 8'29″4, second provisional time, five tenths behind Neuville. The gap between the two rivals is now eight tenths before the Power Stage!!
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) finished in 8'28″9 “I made two mistakes. I lost speed. » admits the Belgian, however. Enough for Ogier to regain some margin?
The Ogier – Neuville fight is underway, and the two drivers are tied after 5 km!
Great performance from Latvala (Toyota) in 8'37″2, 9″8 faster than Paddon's best time.
Second provisional time for Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) 0″3 behind Paddon. The Finn should not be worried about the third step of the podium, he who is alone between the Ogier – Neuville and Paddon – Ostberg tandems.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) is already ahead in the first partial on Latvala's best provisional time.
Paddon believes he has saved his tires enough to take a stab at the Power Stage and win bonus points.
Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) completed the course of this SS19 in 8'47″0, provisional best time. The New Zealander is ahead of Breen by 3″ and especially Ostberg by 4″1. The gap between Paddon and Ostberg is now 15” ahead of the Power Stage.
“Hayden is riding well today and we are struggling a bit. We just have to manage the rally. The conditions are tricky so we just have to be careful and finish. » comments Ostberg.
In action in the special, Latvala (Toyota) is the fastest in the first part.
Mads Ostberg (Citroën) fails 1″1 behind the best provisional time of his teammate Craig Breen. The Norwegian is now waiting for the time of Hayden Paddon (Hyundai), but given the pace displayed by the New Zealand driver, the task promises to be difficult with a view to 4th place overall.
Craig Breen completed SS19 in 8'50"00, 21" better than Evans. “I'm sure everyone will save their tires. » indicates the Citroën driver. Not sure that Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville are in this mode of operation!
