Sardinia Rally 2023

13h

VICTORY FOR THIERRY NEUVILLE ON THE SARDINIA RALLY! The Belgian finished the Power Stage very far from the fastest, more than 25 seconds behind, but won his first victory of the 2023 season! Hyundai signs the double with Lappi, Rovanperä finishes 3rd with 5 points in the Power Stage!

Thank you all for following us, and see you in three weeks for the Safari Rally in Kenya!

Power Stage ranking

Final ranking

13h

15″9 behind for Esapekka Lappi on this Power Stage, but the main thing is elsewhere: the Finn signs a 3rd consecutive podium!

13h

And Kalle Rovanperä knocks out the competition with the new provisional best time in 5'55″0, 4″7 better than Ott Tänak!

13h

Elfyn Evans finished the special with the 3rd provisional time… but with a rear wing detached from her Toyota Yaris! The Welshman finished without problems despite the damage to his wing, and should finish in 4th place.

Evans: “It was so slippery. I felt quite cautious in some places and the next moment it's like sledding. It’s always like that in these conditions.”

13h

Sébastien Ogier finished this Power Stage 2″1 behind Ott Tänak. The Frenchman will not score the 5 points offered on this last special…

Ogier: “It’s not what we wanted this weekend, that’s for sure. When bad luck starts to hit you, you can do whatever you want, but sometimes it doesn't work. We have to accept it and move forward. »

13h

And for a tenth, Ott Tänak takes the best time on this Power Stage!

Tanak: “I don't think I have much chance [of winning the Power Stage]. I feel like this year, on gravel, I'm having difficulty at the moment. It's hard to find speed and confidence. »

13h

Here we go again for this Power Stage with the departure of Ott Tänak!

12h

The special is interrupted, time to evacuate Adrien Fourmaux's car.

12h

Takamoto Katsuta is the first of the Rally1s to cross the finish line of this Power Stage, and logically improves the best time to 5'59″8.

Ott Tänak's departure was delayed to be able to evacuate Adrien Fourmaux's Ford on the special.

12h

And so it is Andreas Mikkelsen who wins the Sardinia Rally in WRC2! Yohan Rossel therefore moved up to 4th place in the category, with the 3 points from the Power Stage as a bonus, but what a disappointment for Adrien Fourmaux!

12h

Adrien Fourmaux is still stopped on the side of the road, he hit a rock on the outside of a bend! It's over for the Northerner, who was only a few kilometers away from a first victory in WRC2!

12h

Andreas Mikkelsen crosses the finish line 3″4 behind Yohan Rossel! But Adrien Fourmaux is stopped in this last special!!!

12h

Kajetan Kajetanowicz saves his 4th place in the WRC2 category by only losing 2″6 to Yohan Rossel on this Power Stage! The Frenchman still has the best provisional time.

12h

Teemu Suninen had some serious scares, but he finished the special 9″4 behind Yohan Rossel! The Finn should finish in 4th place in WRC2.

Suninen: “I did a little aquaplaning on the asphalt, but nothing serious. It was really difficult for us, but I think without the broken wheel [on Friday] we would have done well. It's a bit disappointing. »

12h

Miko Marczyk concedes 30″6 to Yohan Rossel on this unique Power Stage, while the road becomes more and more dug and muddy. The Pole will finish 6th in WRC2.

12h

Yohan Rossel, leader of the WRC2 championship, sets the provisional best time in 6'26″6! The Frenchman, in difficulty on the dirt (and muddy) roads of Sardinia, should come away with 5th place in the category.

Rossel: “It’s a very difficult weekend for me and for my team. I have been working on the settings all the time, but we need to find a solution before the next event. If I stay in this situation, it will be impossible for me to fight for the championship. »

12h

The Czech driver sets a first reference time for Rally2 in 6'39″2, and should finish 7th in the category here in Sardinia.

Cash: “We had a braking scare where there was standing water and after that I took my time to finish the rally. It was an amazing weekend and I'm really happy we're here. »
