It has been 14 years since the Rally of Catalonia last contested the Serra de la Llena special stage. On terrain unknown to everyone, apart from Spanish veteran Dani Sordo (Hyundai), Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) was once again the most impressive.
The 2022 WRC world champion dropped the competition over 11,79 km. Apart from the Hyundai i20 of Thierry Neuville and the Toyota Yaris of Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier, the opponents experienced great difficulties on a partly wet road.
The Ford Puma of the M-Sport Ford clan are absent with a transparent Loubet-Fourmaux-Greensmith trio. The two Frenchmen and the Englishman lost more than a second per kilometer and are already dropped by half a minute in the general classification!
In WRC2, the fight for the title between Andreas Mikkelsen (absent in Catalonia), Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Skoda) and Emil Lindholm (Skoda) takes a turn against the latter. The Finn suffered a puncture to his right rear wheel and lost a minute.
