Tänak confirmed that he braked at the finish line in order to leave the championship lead to Ogier so that he could open up in the first stage in Sardinia! Let's hope for the Toyota driver that it doesn't rain in the first stage of the next event...
Ogier will have to open in Sardinia, a rally where sweeping usually has a big impact. The Citroën driver is 2 points ahead of Tänak. Neuville follows with around ten units behind the leader. Hyundai retains the lead in the Manufacturers' ranking with 20 points ahead of Toyota. Citroën is 44 units behind.
Ott Tänak (Toyota) took victory at the Rally de Portugal ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) completes the podium following the retirement of Kris Meeke (Toyota) who broke his steering when hitting a stump. M-Sport drivers Teemu Suninen and Elfyn Evans complete the Top 5 ahead of Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda) who wins in WRC 2 Pro ahead of Jan Kopecky (Skoda). Gus Greensmith (M-Sport) retired after hitting an embankment on the landing of a jump. The ensuing red flag condemned Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) to 8th.
Sébastien Ogier won the Power Stage by completing the 11,18km of Fafe in 6'35''0. Thierry Neuville followed 9 tenths behind with 7 tenths ahead of Ott Tänak. Teemu Suninen and Dani Sordo completed the Top 5 of the special.
Tänak reached the finish line by setting the 3rd time, 1″6 behind Ogier’s scratch. Ogier therefore won the Power Stage ahead of Neuville, Tänak, Suninen and Sordo.
Tänak takes victory at the Rally Portugal! This is his second in a row after Chile and his 3rd of the season.

Neuville sets the 2nd provisional time, 9 tenths behind Ogier. The Hyundai driver secures 2nd place. “I put the hard tires on this SS but we waited a very long time at the start. I lost a little time in the first 2 SS of the day. I am happy with this result after the disappointment of Chile. »
Neuville is 8 tenths from the provisional reference at 2nd intermediate.

Neuville was patient at the start, the special being interrupted again. The Toyota is stuck in the middle of the road.
Meeke hit a rock on the inside of a turn and spun. The Yaris WRC refused to start again and the crew got out of the car.
Ogier took the provisional scratch 4s ahead of Suninen and took 3rd place with Meeke's accident. “I may have to open the road to Sardinia. »
