Sardinia Rally 2020
It's the end of SS5, Sordo sets the best time ahead of Tânak and Suninen. Nice fourth place for Loubet
The classification of the special
Fourth best mark for Pierre-Louis Loubet in 11'00″7, four seconds behind Dani Sordo. The Tricolore also lost its rear bumper
“I didn't have a very good stage. I find my tires too soft. I lost a little time, I slipped a lot. I’m not entirely satisfied.” Dani Sordo clearly did not enjoy his special despite the best time
Best time for Dani Sordo. The leader of the event beats Ott Tänak's mark of 10'57'6 thanks to a SS5 in 10'56'7. He also takes two seconds from Teemu Suninen overall
Greensmith completes this SS5 4″6 behind Tänak provisionally. He set a time of 11'02″2
Second provisional time for Suninen in 10'58″7 who awaits the time of Sordo, the overall leader
Big disappointment for Neuville who finished this SS5 3″7 behind Tänak with a time of 11’01’3. The Belgian was provisionally ahead but lost time mid-stage because he couldn't restart the car
Rovanperä loses very big. He crossed the line exactly one minute behind Tänak (11'57″6)
Tänak repaired his suspension problems. He takes the provisional lead of this SS5 in 10'57″6
Rovanperä seems to be having problems. He lost more than 20 seconds on Ogier
Very good time recorded by Ogier. The Toyota driver covered the almost 22 km of the special in 11'03″3
First chronometric reference in this ES5 signed Elfyn Evans. The Welshman clocked 11'08″7
An update on the tire choices of the afternoon. The three Toyota drivers (Ogier, Evans and Rovanperä) chose 5 medium tires. Same choice for the Tänak-Sordo-Loubet trio at Hyundai while Neuville opted for 4 mediums and one hard. On the Ford side, Greensmith left with 5 mediums. His teammate and second in this Rally of Sardinia, Suninen chose 3 medium and 4 hard
After dirt specials this morning, the drivers will face a 5 kilometer long SS14,74 with multiple surfaces and a pronounced difference in altitude.
Here we go for the fifth special of the day. Championship leader, Elfyn Evans started first
“We had some suspension issues that we couldn't fix with what we had on us on the road. We still managed to bring the car back here so we have to see a little positive in the story,” confided Ott Tänak at the finish of the fourth special.
Before the drivers resume the race here is an update on the ranking: Sordo dominates the debates ahead of Suninen. Ogier completes the podium. World championship leader Evans is fourth, 24″7 off the lead. Winner in Estonia this year, Tänak suffered this morning (mechanical problems) and is only 9th, almost two minutes from first place.
