While Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) was slightly behind in SS8 of the Rally of Sardinia, the New Zealander increased his lead by 3''4 against Juho Hänninen (Toyota) while he failed by more than 17s from the scratch for Dani Sordo (Hyundai) who resolved his turbo problems.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) was the closest, 8 seconds behind, ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) by a tenth. Ott Tänak (Ford) followed more than 13 seconds ahead of Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) and Sébastien Ogier (Ford). Mads Ostberg (Ford) finished more than 14s behind. Andreas Mikkelsen (Citroën) again lost more than half a minute on the course benchmark.

Hayden Paddon now has a lead of almost 8 seconds over Juho Hänninen. The Toyota driver is less than a second ahead of Thierry Neuville who completes the new provisional podium.
