Monte-Carlo Rally 2017
The 3rd stage of the Monte-Carlo Rally will begin this Saturday, January 21 from 8:08 a.m. with the 31,17km of Lardier-et-Valenca.
Andreas Mikkelsen continues to dominate WRC 2 with a lead of almost 3 minutes over Jan Kopecky (Skoda). The Czech managed to regain 2nd place against Bryan Bouffier (Ford) despite a puncture. Éric Camilli (Ford) occupies 4th place in the category despite going off the road, while Quentin Gilbert (Ford) completes the top five.
Sébastien Ogier (Ford) achieved his second scratch at the end of SS8 of the Monte-Carlo Rally (St-Léger-les-Mélèzes – La-Bâtie-Neuve), the last route of the second stage, by completing the 16,83km in 11'05''4. The M-Sport driver again took more than 7 seconds from Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The leader of the event claims to have lost around ten seconds having had engine problems including a turbo failure. Ott Tänak (Ford) finished 12 seconds behind the Hyundai driver and almost 20 seconds behind his teammate.
Finishing 7”5 behind the Estonian, Dani Sordo (Hyundai) took 13 seconds from Craig Breen (DS 3) who slipped into a ditch. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) finished 37 seconds behind the Frenchman after spinning.
On the evening of the second stage, Thierry Neuville retains the lead of the Monte-Carlo Rally by 45 seconds over Sébastien Ogier who took second place from Ott Tänak by 3 tenths. Jari-Matti Latvala remains well established in 4th place ahead of Dani Sordo who regained 5th place for 6 seconds ahead of Craig Breen.
Lefebvre achieved the 6th provisional time, finishing 4s behind Evans and ahead of Latvala by more than 5s.
Breen lost precious seconds by sliding into a ditch. The Citroën driver had to restart his engine.
Evans signs the 5th provisional time, finishing 8 tenths behind Sordo and ahead of Latvala by more than 9 seconds. The M-Sport driver finally sets an interesting time, even if his delay is now too significant.
Breen is the slowest at the finish. The DS 3 WRC driver is more than 40 seconds off the provisional scratch, dropping nearly 14 seconds to Sordo. The Hyundai driver moved back into the top 5 for a 6s lead over the Irishman.
Tänak drops 2nd place to Oggier for 3 tenths behind. The Estonian lost 19”5 to his teammate in the special.
Latvala finished 10s behind Sordo and 37s behind Ogier's provisional scratch. The Toyota driver lost time in a spin. “I lost the rear and that made me lose a lot of time. »
Neuville clarified that he lost his turbo in the special. The Belgian had difficulty restarting his engine which caused his delay of around 10 seconds.
Sordo finished more than 19 seconds behind his teammate Neuville. The Spaniard is last in the leading group of the WRC. “It was a very bad step. The conditions are too difficult, there is no grip. »
Neuville drops another 7″6 to Ogier who is 45s behind the Monte-Carlo leader. “I stalled in a hairpin, it cost me around ten seconds. »
Latvala spun. The Toyota driver should be able to maintain his 4th place against Breen.

Ogier and Neuville set off on the last timed course of the 2nd stage.
The 2nd stage will conclude with the SS8 from St-Léger-les-Mélèzes – La-Bâtie-Neuve, 16,83km long. Neuville was the fastest there this morning with a time of 11'22″2. Ogier is expected to open the road at 16:14 p.m.
