Sergio Pérez and Nico Hülkenberg (Force India) follow in the standings ahead of Jenson Button (McLaren) and Felipe Massa (Williams).

Mercedes indicates that a deviation in trajectory is the cause of Rosberg's poor time.
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) made everyone agree after these first attempts by achieving a lap in 1’32″850. Poor performance on the other hand for Rosberg, only 5th behind Verstappen, Ricciardo (Red Bull), and Räikkönen (Ferrari).
The Mexican's mark was immediately improved by Vettel (Ferrari), then Verstappen (Red Bull).
Pérez set the first time in 1’35”173 with his Force India.
Nine drivers took to the track in this Q3, Jenson Button (McLaren) being the only one not to leave the pits.

Lewis Hamilton was once again the fastest in Q2, and precedes his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg by almost 6 tenths. Followed by the two Red Bulls of Verstappen and Ricciardo, and the Ferraris of Räikkönen and Vettel. Valtteri Bottas (Williams), however, did not make it past Q2, unlike his teammate Felipe Massa. The Haas of Grosjean and Gutiérrez, the Toro Rosso of Sainz and Kvyat and the Renault R.S.16 of Magnussen are also among those eliminated.

End of Q2, while Hülkenberg (Force India) improved to move up to 9th place behind Button (McLaren).
Räikkönen still dominates Vettel in the Ferrari clan, the two drivers climbing into 5th and 6th positions and separated by less than 70 thousandths.
