During the pre-season tests on November 28 in Valencia, many riders climbed onto the bike of their future team without being able to reveal their impressions after their trip, their contract with another team still being in force.

Marc Marquez, who left Honda to join the ranks of Gresini Racing alongside his brother Alex, was one of them. However, the transition to the new year gave the eight-time world champion the opportunity to take stock of this first day on a Ducati that he describes as full of emotions.

“Obviously, I was very nervous, I even had a knot in my stomach because it’s a huge change for me, reveals Marquez in an interview with DAZN. After the first outing I was already more relaxed which allowed me to carry out this day of tests in the best possible way. Above all, I tried to understand the bike, both technically and electronically.

In the end, it's a day in which I've already worked on a lot of things because there are lots of small details that change, like the position on the bike, but the speed was there and I've already learned to manage a lot of things, He continues. I still have a lot to learn, to be faster and more consistent, but above all more confident. »

If his transfer involves major changes on the track, the Spaniard reminds that that is not all.

“I don’t like to compare bikes like that in public, but it’s certain that the two are very different, especially in terms of riding style. As I said, it’s the bike that is the world champion, so it’s naturally easier to tame.

We must also take into account that what changes above all are the people with whom I now work, because I have worked with the same people for eleven years. However, I was very well received by my new family” concludes Marquez.
