The sensors on the front tire of the Yamaha fabio quartararo determined that the Frenchman had driven for the majority of the race below the minimum pressure imposed by Michelin. As a result, Quartararo receives an eight-second penalty, according to the new 2024 regulations. The latter previously provided for immediate disqualification, before it was modified on the eve of the Qatar GP.

Dani Pedrosa therefore climbs onto the Sprint podium with his KTM, while Fabio Quartararo drops to fifth position, ahead of the Aprilia Trackhouse of Raul Fernandez. Franco Morbidelli also gained a position, and finally finished fourth in this Sprint on his Ducati Pramac.

Quartararo managed to finish on the podium in the Sprint despite a 23rd position on the starting grid, after a completely crazy race, marked by falls for 15 of the 25 drivers entered. Only 16 reached the finish in Jerez de la Frontera.
