While the start of the weekend was complicated to say the least, fabio quartararo failed to find his rhythm in Q1, on a track with changing conditions, and qualified in 23rd position, jeopardizing his chances of points at the Spanish Grand Prix.

This was without counting on a Sprint full of twists and turns, during which fifteen drivers lost control of their machine due to the damp spots still present on the track.

Showing great caution, Fabio Quartararo took advantage of a good start, as well as the misfortunes of his opponents, to climb to the top-3. Three laps before the finish, the No. 20 still had to resist the return of Dani Pedrosa, which he finally managed to contain. At the finish, the surprise is great, and the joy of having won a podium limits the length of his remarks during the post-race interview.

“Starting from 23rd position is never ideal, especially on a track like this, comments Quartararo before climbing onto the podium installed at turn 9. There were a lot of crashes, and I took advantage of that to come back and get my first podium of the season.

I'm very happy to be in the top-3 here in Jerez, because this track means a lot to me. I hope tomorrow's race is good, and that we can celebrate like we will today." he simply adds.

This timely result will certainly help the Nice native to continue to believe in his team, while the current weekend precedes important tests for the continuation of the Japanese factory's project.
