Spectators of the 2022 French Grand Prix (July 22-24) will be happy! In addition to Formula 1, the W Series and the Porsche Supercup, the Formula 2 will tour the Paul-Ricard circuit (Var) this summer.
This return of Formula 2 after three years of absence was made possible by the cancellation of the Sochi event (Russia) due to the war in Ukraine and retaliatory measures against Russia.
« Since it was announced that we would be dropping a round, we have been working to find a venue to replace it, keeping in mind the costs this would incur, explains Bruno Michel, CEO of F2. LCastellet emerged as the best option, and we are really excited to return to the Circuit Paul Ricard.

With this additional round, we return to 14 events as announced before the start of the season. This means that the 2022 season calendar is the biggest we have had since FIA F2 began in 2017. It will be a very busy July for the teams and drivers, but very exciting for the fans and all. people involved in F2. »
Indeed, the month of July will include four trips: a back-to-back between Silverstone (Great Britain) and the Red Bull Ring (Austria), a weekend break, then another back-to-back from Paul-Ricard to Hungaroring (Hungary).
The last time the Formula 1 anteroom evolved in the Var, the late Anthoine Hubert had won the Sprint Race, a few weeks before dying in a pile-up at Spa-Francorchamps.
