  • Richard Verschoor (Trident)'s counter is open. The Dutchman, who is playing his fourth season in Formula 2, produced a very clean copy during the Sprint Race this Thursday in Saudi Arabia.
  • Starting on the front row alongside “poleman” Paul Aron (Hitech GP), Richard Verschoor showed great racing intelligence to prevent the Estonian from winning for the first time in the category. After a fairly strategic first part, the Trident driver decided to attack at the start of the 8th lap of the race. Stuck in the rookie's exhausts, the native of Benschop easily got rid of him with a well-executed maneuver at the first corner. With the field clear in front of him, Richard Verschoor was then able to take off and not be caught again later. Behind him, Paul Aron ended up losing to Dennis Hauger (MP Motorsport) but confirms this promising start to the season with the addition of the point for the best lap in the race.
  • Note the very good performance of Zane Maloney (Rodin Motorsport) who made up for his poor qualifying (affected by a technical problem) the day before. Starting 15th, the championship leader relied on a very strong racing pace. Able to chain overtakes without difficulty, the Bardien moved up to 5th place to take 4 points. We'll see if he can do it again this Saturday in the Main Race (14:25 p.m.).

Double abandonment among the French

  • For the Tricolores, it makes you wonder if they don't have a black cat over their heads. Already on the carpet during their last outing in Bahrain in the Main Race, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) and Isack Hadjar (Campos) were unable to take the checkerboard of the Sprint. The first city couldn't even complete a lap. Stuck in the peloton at the start, Martins was unable to do anything when Dennis Hauger (MP Motorsport), in the heat of the moment, pressed him against the wall at the exit of turn 2. A contact which caused very serious damage to his car and marked the definitive abandonment.
  • For Isack Hadjar, long in the fight for 3rd place, the hopes of points were gone in the penultimate lap (19/20). Passed by Zane Maloney while he was in 5th place, the Ile-de-France native was then the victim of a technical problem which forced him to return to the pit lane and never leave it again. Another retirement after the first round in Bahrain when he was hit by Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta Racing).
