Oriol Servia will make his eighth start at the Indianapolis 500 by being entered on May 29 in the 100th edition with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports which will thus field three single-seaters with James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin. The 41-year-old Spaniard will be at the wheel of the #77 Honda with which he will make his 198th start in IndyCar since 2000.
“This edition will be the greatest of our generation, perhaps even of all time, and I wanted to be sure to be part of a team that would allow me to claim victory”, commented the 2005 Champ Car vice-champion.
“We've been racing against Oriol for a while now and we've always considered entering him in one of our cars. He is a true professional and well respected in motorsport”, added Sam Schmidt, co-director of the team of the same name.
Oriol Servia achieved his best result at Indianapolis in 2012 when he took fourth place with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
