Porsche completed its tests in Abu Dhabi where the Stuttgart manufacturer was particularly interested in the new Michelin tires.

Porsche focused on tires in Abu Dhabi

Porsche completed 5554 km of testing on the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi after eight days. These tests were mainly focused on Michelin tires, the Clermont-based manufacturer having developed three different slicks adapted to the temperatures: the “soft cold” (tender cold), the “soft hot” (tender hot) and the “soft hot plus” (tender hot more).

Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb covered 2059 km with the 919 Hybrid during the first three days, while Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mrk Webber completed 4142 km over the next five days.

“It is both very important and very difficult to choose the right tires”, recalled Andreas Seidl, Porsche LMP1 Team Principal. “Stability of conditions is essential to obtain reliable results and we only had dry weather in Abu Dhabi with identical temperatures. We cannot benefit from such a situation in Europe at this time of year. »
