Kévin Estre: “A nice surprise to be the best of the others”

Kevin, what are your feelings after qualifying here in Imola?

Not bad. We are 4th, we are behind the three Ferrari. When we arrived here, I think we expected to have difficulties. Ultimately, the team did a great job between the test we did a month and a half ago and now, because the car was really difficult. There we have a better car, better balance. We proved in qualifying that we are behind the reds even if they are too fast for us. We'll see in the race, but in any case, it's a good surprise to be the best of the others.

Were the Ferraris untouchable during qualifying this Saturday?

Yes, there are seven tenths compared to the first. Honestly, I had a pretty good ride. I don't think it was possible to do much better. Afterwards, it's only one lap. We'll see over the whole race, but since the start of the weekend, it's clear that every time they come out, they're always at the front.

How will you play in a two-on-three race?

There may be a bit of risk-taking in the strategy. It's going to be, I think, a race with a really different dynamic than Qatar. The strategy will be important and should not be missed. I don't know, we'll see what we can do, but in any case, we'll try to stay on their heels during the first stint. Lots of things that can happen in traffic.
