It is the No. 919 Porsche 1 Hybrid which will start the closing round of the 2017 WEC tomorrow in pole position.

Porsche on pole in Bahrain

Si Toyota seemed well on his way to taking pole position for the 6 Hours of Bahrain, Nick Tandy came at the last moment to take the no. 050 TS7 Hybrid entrusted in qualifying to José Maria Lopez and Mike conway. The Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1, which the Briton shares with André Lotterer and Neel Jani, is credited with a time of 1'39"383. It is ahead of the #0 Toyota by 263”7 and the second 0 Hybrid of Bamber-Hartley-Bernhard by 628”919. The No. 8 Toyota, at the wheel of which took turns Kazuki Nakajima and Anthony Davidson, is fourth at 1”3.

In LM P2, it’s up to Signatech Alpine what is the pole position, the pair negrao-Menezes having signed a 1'47"227 which allows him to precede the #0 Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca 3 of Laurent-Jarvis-Tung by 07"38, currently second in the championship. Her great rival for the title, the No. 31 from the Vaillante Rebellion stable (Canal-Senna-Cheers) is just behind.

 

 

In GTE Pro, pole position went to the Ferrari 488 GTE n°51 of Sam Bird and Davide Rigon, thanks to an average time of 1’56”033. The Italian was ahead by 0”339 and 0”430 respectively.Aston Martin Vantage #97 of Adam and Turner and the Ford GT #67 of Priaulx-Tincknell, the best placed of the three contenders for the title. The top five is completed by the #51 Ferrari of Calado-Pier Guidi and the #95 Aston Martin of Sorensen-Thiim. The two Porsche 911 RSRs are 1”4 behind the reference mark while the No. 66 Ford GT brings up the rear.

Championship leader, the No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage of Dalla Lana-Lamy-Lauda shone in GTE Am and is ahead of the No. 488 Ferrari 61 GTE of Griffin-Mok-Sawaa. In third place, we find the No. 911 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 77 RSR.
