ALMS: Pagenaud triples the bet

At 25 years, simon pagenaud is experiencing a season of great beauty. The only hitch, for the moment, is the abandonment of the Peugeot 908 of the Pescarolo team during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race that he was unable to finish due to Benoït Tréluyer going off the track. After this Le Mans interlude, the Frenchman returned to his American Le Mans Series program this weekend with the Ferran Motorsport team. Having achieved pole the day before, the No. 02 Acura ARX 66a driven by Gil de Feran took the lead, ahead of the Highcrof Racing Acura (David Brabham and Scott Sharp). If the gap increases rapidly between the two prototypes, it is reduced following neutralization due to the accident of a Porsche GT3.

Simon Pagenaud, who took over, then had to fight to maintain the lead and keep David Brabham at bay. But, at the end of the next refueling, the Australian managed to take first position, thanks to a quicker stop. But, a few laps from the finish, Brabham had to return to his pit box following a puncture, leaving the destiny of the race to Simon Pagenaud. The Frenchman thus allows de Ferran Motorsport to win a third consecutive race.

In the other categories, the Bergmeister/Long crew won masterfully in GT2, aboard the Porsche 911 SRS GT3, placing themselves in fifth place overall. They are preceded by the first LMP2, the Lola-Mazda of Leitzinger and Franchitti.
