This is the picture of the night so far at the 24 2024 Hours of Daytona: the No. 06 Acura ARX-10 stopped on the side of the track with Filipe Albuquerque at the wheel. The Portuguese was never able to restart the car, the latter being brought back behind the wall in an attempt to save what could still be saved. However, after almost 50 laps, the Japanese prototype still had not left...

« I started reporting something burning at the Bus Stop, explained the Portuguese at the microphone of NBC. I thought it was the GT in front of me, but the smell persisted. I reported this to the team and when I passed seventh gear on the straight, the engine stopped. No more power, nothing at all. » Comments corroborating what Albuquerque, disappointed, told us when leaving his box after a long discussion with his teammate Brendon Hartley.

« I lost all power to the car, all systems, added Albuquerque. I didn't have any electrical assistance left, so I went straight. I got out [of the car] to try to check for debris on the exterior emergency buttons, but nothing. »

« We wanted to at least stay on the first lap for the first six hours or whatever, and the car seemed to come alive. And then he (Albuquerque) felt something and lost power, and we have no indication of where it started », Added Wayne Taylor, the boss of the team.

The problem was ultimately traced to the wiring harness and the team is attempting to replace it, but says the repair will take a long time. The death knell already seems to have sounded for the #10 of Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti.
