Leading since the end of the second hour of the race, Cadillac finally relinquished control of the 24 Hours of Daytona once night fell on the Florida circuit. After a Full Course Yellow, Matt Campbell got the better of Tom Blomqvist to take the lead of the event with the official 963 n°7.

The No. 01 Cadillac Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, operated by Chip Ganassi Racing, led most of the first quarter of the Florida classic in the hands of drivers Sébastien Bourdais, Scott Dixon and Alex Palou. The No. 01, however, lost places in the standings during the pit stops.

« We knew we were going to fight, and we do, Bourdais said. I think the car shows it has a lot of pace; I never doubted it. We knew we had a strong package to maximize the level of performance we had, but it won't be easy if it's a sprint in the last 30 minutes. »

Acura collected problems overnight. The No. 40 first lost a lap due to a power steering failure during the fourth hour, but the team was able to take advantage of a neutralization to regain contact with the leaders with Colton Herta at the flying.

Herta got hot a little later when he and the Ferrari 296 GT3 #023 of Triarsi Competizione found themselves in the Le Mans chicane after five hours of racing. The Ferrari suffered rear damage but returned to the pits for repairs. The No. 40 Acura veered off course, but the driver IndyCar managed to right the prototype and get back on track without issue.

Around 22 p.m. local time, it was Filipe Albuquerque who found himself immobilized with the No. 10 Acura, under the eyes of Jordan Taylor who was then answering questions from journalists in the press room. The Portuguese had to stop his car at the side of the track and did not restart, the WTRAndretti tumbling down the rankings. “ No more power », the Lusitanian briefly told us in the paddock as he got out of the car which had an electrical problem. The team tries to repair to leave, but the delay is accumulating. At the same time, the two Cadillacs had regained control with the #31 ahead of the #01.

The No. 01 Cadillac also had problems with a puncture when Sébastien Bourdais ran over the debris of a GT.

In LM P2, United Autosports continues to dominate the debates with the No. 2 led in particular by Mexican Pato O'Ward. The Richard Mille AF Corse n°88 of Lilou Wadoux and Matthieu Vaxiviere is out of the race due to a problem with the engine.

Corvette leads the GTD Pro category with No. 4, while Mercedes Winward Racing's No. 3 AMG GT57 leads the GTD with 15 hours and 20 minutes remaining in the 24 Hours of Daytona.
