Valtteri Bottas is preparing to take a new step in his career by integrating Mercedes F1 where he will replace Nico Rosberg. The Finn changes teams for the first time in the discipline after having defended the colors of Williams Racing with which he reached the podium 9 times without reaching the top step.
The new teammate of Lewis Hamilton will retain great esteem for the Grove team as he recalled in a video posted by his former team.
“It was an incredible learning experience for both me and the team, said Valtteri Bottas who made 77 starts with Williams. You could feel that the team was becoming more and more professional every year. Things are developing, even if the results don't always show it. »
“I have always said that there is no reason why Williams cannot get back to winning ways after winning so many titles (7 Drivers' titles and 9 Manufacturers' titles). It's just a matter of time for them. I regret not having won my first victory or my first coronation with them, but I wish them the best for the future and I hope it will come quickly. »
“I think and hope I gave a lot for Williams, added the Finn who will be replaced by his former teammate Felipe Massa who has postponed his retirement plans. I always wanted to play as a team. My goal was to collect as many points as possible for the team, to work as much as possible with my engineers and to spend as much time as possible at the factory. »
Williams' last victory dates back to the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix where Pastor Maldonado scored his only success in F1 after starting from pole.
