2023 United States Grand Prix standings:

  • And 50! Max Verstappen (Red Bull) scored this Sunday, October 22, a 50th career success near Austin (Texas). The Dutchman, however, had to work hard to be able to win, starting from sixth position on the grid.
  • The three-time world champion waited until the 28th lap to finally take control of the United States Grand Prix. The fault of one Lando Norris (McLaren) in great shape! The Briton had taken the lead as soon as the lights went out on a Charles Leclerc poleman but slow to take off:

  • Max Verstappen opted for an offensive tactic, putting on medium tires during his second stint, while Lando Norris opted for hard compounds. The third outsider in this event, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was well placed to aim for victory but a slow pit stop threw him behind this duo.

  • Struggling with his hard tires in his final stint, Lando Norris was no match for the experience of Lewis Hamilton. The latter, on medium tires, overtook the McLaren before setting off in pursuit of his tormentor during the 2021 season. He finished just 2 seconds behind.

  • At Ferrari, Charles Leclerc had to let his teammate Carlos Sainz pass at the end of the race. The Monegasque and the Spaniard were not on the same strategy and Leclerc even finished behind a discreet Sergio Pérez (Red Bull).
  • Pierre Gasly (Alpine), wearing a helmet tribute to François Cevert (who died in 1973 at Watkins Glen), brings back three points for the French team.
  • Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) signs the best lap in the race and earns a bonus point because he finishes in the top 10. His teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished at the bottom of the table due to an unforeseen stop at the end of the effort.
  • The melee at the first corner left two victims: Esteban Ocon (Alpine) and Oscar piastri (McLaren). The Frenchman and the Australian rookie retired after a collision on their pontoons which damaged the mechanics.

And in the end, it's Max who wins even if it wasn't with the usual ease! Fortunately I follow the GPs in streaming because it would hurt me to pay for such a spectacle and I am surprised to see so many Yankees present around the circuit not turning away from F1
