Porsche still discussing coming to F1

Porsche has not said its last word regarding a possible return to Formula 1 by 2026. At the beginning of September, the German manufacturer officially announced the end of discussions with Red Bull while the deal between the two entities seemed settled a long time ago to begin at the same time as the new engine regulations.

“Over the past few months, Dr. Ing. hc F. Porsche AG and Red Bull GmbH have held discussions regarding Porsche's entry into Formula 1. Both companies have jointly come to the conclusion that these talks will no longer continue. we then learned from the German manufacturer, who however did not give up.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, declared at the opening of the FIA ​​World Motor Sport Council which was held on Wednesday October 19 in London: “Over the summer, the FIA ​​World Motor Sport Council approved the Formula 1 powertrain regulations for 2026. These regulations are the result of extensive research and development by the FIA ​​and a consultation with existing Power Unit manufacturers and potential new manufacturers. The FIA ​​continues to advance innovation and sustainability across its motorsport portfolio. Formula 2026's 1 PU Regulations are the most visible example of this mission.

At Spa-Francorchamps in August, Audi announced that it was joining the FIA ​​Formula 1 World Championship from 2026 as a power unit manufacturer (presumably with Sauber, Editor’s note) This announcement validated the hard work of all stakeholders to develop these regulations. We also note that Porsche is still in discussions with the Formula 1 teams."

There therefore remains a possibility of seeing Porsche arrive in Formula 1 for 2026, but with a team other than Red Bull.
