We know the love of Max Verstappen for F1, but especially for motorsport in general. Apart from his “work” with Red Bull, if we can call it that, the Dutchman spends most of his free time on the slopes of karting, on the circuits aboard a GT3 in the colors of his team or even... on his simulator. Sunday again, the Batavian won the virtual 24 Hours of Daytona, in the GTD category!

The 26-year-old driver has always warned that his future in Formula 1 could only be written until 2028, the date of the end of his contract with Red Bull. At the same time, he never hid his other desires, like participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I would really like to do them, he assured during Honda Thanks Day last December, on the Motegi circuit in Japan. I have already been there, when my father raced at Le Mans (two participations for Jos Verstappen in 2008 and 2009). The atmosphere is incredible for endurance. There are so many people, we ride at night, at sunrise… I think it’s really cool. »

Verstappen “ don't think about participating » at the Indy500

A complete competitor and jack of all trades, Max Verstappen could, like a Fernando Alonso recently, to try more exotic experiences in the future. F1, the 24 Hours of Le Mans…and why notIndyCar and the Indianapolis 500 then, in order to win the legendary “Triple Crown”? On this subject, the three-time world champion shows less interest... “I like watching [the Indianapolis 500]. I have a lot of respect for what they do, but I don't think I'll participate in it. »

The answer is clear: no, Max Verstappen does not (yet?) feel the desire to join the legend Graham Hill, sole holder of the “Triple Crown” as he defined it in 1972 (F1 World Championship [or Monaco GP according to another definition] + 24 Hours of Le Mans + 500 Miles of Indianapolis).

If IndyCar does not seem to tempt him, the Dutchman nevertheless recognizes that he would like to drive other vehicles in his career. “For sure, I would like to try a motorcycle of MotoGP, he admitted. I like Super GTs and I had the opportunity to try one, which was very nice. The Super Formula looks very good, and it's the fastest car below F1, so it looks very good to me. »

Going in circles on an oval at very high speed does not seem to interest the Batavian, unlike other car disciplines such as WEC, GT / Super GT and even Super Formula which he visibly places above Indycar!
