Bernie Ecclestone still risks attracting criticism from part of the public of the F1. If the discipline's financier voted in favor of changing the format of qualifications (validated by the FIA), he does not seem convinced of its effectiveness.
“I voted yes because I think we needed to do something. I’m not sure we’ll get exactly what we want, but we have to try.”, commented Mr. E on Sky Sports.
The director of the FOM would have preferred to adopt a new rule penalizing the last Grand Prix winner.
“I would have liked to keep qualifying as it was because it is in a way more exciting than the race. I would have liked to propose that the winner of the last race competed have a time penalty during qualifying for the next event. I think the driver would still win the race but would encounter at least some problems. We might have a few good races then.”, suggested the British businessman.
