End of season testing: Piastri with McLaren, Gasly with Alpine ?

An agreement ratified between McLaren and Alpine will allow Oscar Piastri to make his debut with the Woking team during the end of season testing in Abu Dhabi, scheduled from November 22.

If his 2023 situation had been resolved since September with the formalization of his arrival at McLaren and the blessing of the CRB (Contract Recognition Office), Oscar piastri was still somewhat in the dark regarding its end of the 2022 season.

While this season he was a reserve pilot at Alpine, the climate had obviously cooled between the Australian and the French team. To the point that we no longer saw the Melbourne native in the paddocks, without being sure that he continued his work on the simulator on the side ofenstone.

As we revealed last week, Piastri had the right to a first collaboration with McLaren since he was brought to test the car 2021 on the Paul-Ricard circuit in the middle of last week. A test which had not been the subject of any communication from the oranges, without there being any desire to hide.

At a press conference this Saturday, Andreas Seidl in any case confirmed that an agreement had been reached with the French team to allow the future teammate to Lando Norris to ride with McLaren both at Le Castellet last week, but also during the end of season tests which will take place in around ten days in Abu Dhabi.

The interest ofAlpine in all of that ? Presumably to free up space for Pierre Gasly, current pilot Alpha Tauri but future teammateEsteban Ocon in Alpine. The tricolor structure, however, has not yet officially communicated on this subject.
