From illusion to despair. This is how we can sum up Ferrari's season. Everything started very well though. In Bahrain, Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz offered the double to the Team before the Monegasque fills the trophy cabinet a little more with a 2e place in Saudi Arabia and a 2e success in Australia.

Since then, the Scuderia has suffered greatly. Number 1 force at the start of the season, the trans teamalpine notably saw Red Bull et Max Verstappen take the lead at the start of the European tour, thus not tasting victory during 6 Grands Prix. In addition to the renewed form of the red bull's machines, the Italians themselves put a spoke in the wheels by multiplying bad decisions on the wall or failing at pit stops. The Austrians therefore took the opportunity to take the lead both among the Drivers (Max Verstappen is 116 points ahead of Charles Leclerc) and among the Manufacturers (Red Bull trailing Ferrari by 139 units).

Aware of Ferrari's bad summer slump while the Scuderia seemed to have finally regained its splendor, Mattia Binotto preferred to tone down when taking stock of the situation. For the main team of the Reds, whose confidence was recently reiterated by big boss John Elkann, we still need a little time to see them fight for the titles, especially after two very complicated last seasons.

« If we look at the current season, we know that there are still steps to take to be able to win a championship, recognized Mattia Binotto full of realism with Sky Sports F1. Ferrari has made a huge development since last season. You have to go back several years to see such a development. Overall, the team has done a fantastic job developing the current car, but there are still situations (which need to be improved). » And continue by mentioning the various problems encountered during this campaign.

« Reliability. It cost us some victories (Spain and Azerbaijan where Charles Leclerc retired while leading) and to win the championship we must have reliability. There is also race management. Strategy and pit stops need to be improved. During a race weekend you can always make mistakes. I think being perfect is almost impossible, you have to make decisions on the pit wall, but we have to be the best. » Errors still seen recently like in the Netherlands where Ferrari missed twice with Carlos Sainz in the pits. At Monza, the two-stop strategy did not allow Charles Leclerc to fight for victory but we cannot blame them for having tried. Even so, the Scuderia must erase these numerous errors as quickly as possible to hope to be in the game from the start in 2023 because in 2022 the titles already seem promised to Max Verstappen and Red Bull...

A but yes, they still lack a little know-how, experience, it's not as if except for one race they had not participated in ALL the seasons and ALL the GPs of the F1 world championship!!!
