Jost Capito leaves Volkswagen for McLaren

McLaren has just confirmed Jost Capito as executive director of the Woking team, a few minutes later the announcement of his departure from Volkswagen Motorsport. The 57-year-old German will replace Jonathan Neale who will become operations director of McLaren Technology Group once the Wolfsburg brand finds a replacement to lead its team in WRC.

“I met Jost last summer. He is a very impressive, competitive and ambitious person who comes to us with a wealth of experience in motorsport having previously worked at BMW, Porsche, Ford, Sauber and Volkswagen since 2012… He not only has experience in WRC, but in Sports Cars, Touring Cars, motorcycles or F1, where he is renowned for being an unwavering enthusiast with immense knowledge of the industry,” commented Ron Dennis.

Ron Dennis also praised Jonathan Neale. “As McLaren Technology Group's strategy is to constantly evolve, Jonathan has been promoted to Director of Operations. He has done an excellent job as executive director at McLaren Racing.”, added the Briton.
