It wasn't a surprise to anyone...except himself. Max Verstappen took the first pole position of the season for the Bahrain Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc. A 33rd pole position – his favorite number – which was not given: the triple world champion, despite his favorite status, was jostled by the Ferrari and Mercedes during qualifying… but also by its own settings.

“It’s a lot of fun!” The track had a lot of grip, but with the wind in recent days, it was quite complicated to achieve a good lap, confided the Dutchman after qualifying. It was the same in qualifying, even if we naturally went faster in Q1 then in Q2. To get everything right in Q3 was a little more difficult. Of course, I am very happy to be in pole position. To be honest, it was a bit unexpected but luckily the car ended up meeting our expectations in qualifying and I was more satisfied with the car »

“We had to find the last little adjustments to have a perfect balance, even if with the wind, it was impossible today, he adds. Fortunately, we went in the right direction and we were able to attack a little more with the car to take a step forward in qualifying. »

Verstappen " confident " for the Bahrain GP

A pole position won with forceps, before a more controlled race on Saturday? Last year, the main force of the Red Bull lay in the racing pace, and reading the tests, it would seem that the RB20 has the same qualities as its predecessor. Enough to give some optimism to Max Verstappen. “It’s going to be very close during the race. We are performing well in race pace, and that is important. We'll see tomorrow, but I'm confident we can have a good race. »

unexpected, well let’s see! Never change a winning team ! as for the one who loses perhaps she should understand that two entities are not the best solution, only one would certainly work better whether it is in France or in England but only one! let's remember the Ferrari experience which had the Barnard office in England

A little unexpected, he makes fun of his little comrades, Max!! Let's hope that the pace of the race will be a spectacle... but unfortunately this is by no means certain.
