Once again, it will be difficult to miss the car that Jules Gounon will drive in the Bathurst 12 Hours (Australia, February 15-18). The Frenchman, three-time winner of the event and outgoing champion of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC), will defend his crown there with the Mercedes-Chromed AMG GT3 from SunEnergy1 Racing, victorious in 2023.

“I had a great winter as the reigning IGTC champion, said the 29-year-old pilot. This title means a lot to me, as it is something I have strived to achieve for many years. This is only achieved by consistently performing in the world's biggest and toughest races.

This year, I would like to continue this momentum and have four good races. But it will definitely be more difficult, because the pressure is greater when you are not running as an outsider. I hope to have a good week in Bathurst. This is hands down my favorite tour and I can't wait to go back. »

Jules Gounon will be associated with the same crew that won a year ago, with Kenny Habul and Luca Stolz. “I am very happy to return to the Mount Panorama circuit, says the German. For me, the Bathurst race is always a highlight of the calendar. The circuit suits me perfectly and the landscape is simply magnificent. With Jules and Kenny, I have been able to win the race the last two years. Of course, we will do everything to achieve a third consecutive victory. »

In addition to this car, Mercedes-AMG will be represented by eight other GT3s, including Team GruppeM Racing with Maro Engel, Felipe Fraga and David Reynolds (all official Mercedes drivers) or Team Craft-Bamboo Racing with Maxi Götz, Daniel Juncadella and Jayden Ojeda. The National Storage Racing car will be one to watch with official driver Mikaël Grenier and Australian Bathurst 1K specialists Will Brown and Broc Feeney.
