The three-time Bathurst 12 Hour winner and champion IGTC title takes on a new challenge on the slopes of Mount Panorama. Jules Gounon will try to beat the track record on a Mercedes-AMG GT3 modified.

The current fastest time by a GT car on the 6,213 kilometer circuit is 1:58.68s. The car prepared for this record attempt is based on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 on which a tilting rear wing was installed as it was used in DTM according to the rules of class 1. A DRS system similar to that of the Formula 1 is also used. The braking system consists of carbon discs, also standard in Formula 1, while steel brake discs are mandatory under GT3 regulations. A slightly modified front section and adapted side skirts complete the aerodynamic modifications. The 6,2-liter naturally aspirated engine delivers around 650 hp.
No restrictor. DRS. And straight-through pipes.
This is what an unrestricted GT3 car looks and sounds like!

« The heritage of 130 years of motorsport is extremely important and valuable, expresses Christoph Sagemüller, director of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. Succeeding in passing it on to the future is a responsibility that falls to each of us. I'm delighted that we will kick off this anniversary at the Bathurst 12 Hour race and hopefully honor it with a record lap. Additionally, we travel to the iconic Mount Panorama as defending champions for the second time in a row. Of course, we want to defend this title and thus add a new milestone to our 130-year motorsport heritage, in line with our motto “Defining Motorsport since 1894” (Defining motorsport since 1894). »
