One year to the day after the death of Craig Breen, the organizers of the Croatia Rally unveiled a memorial at the site of his accident.

The Irish driver lost his life during a test session to prepare for the 2023 edition of the Rally from Croatia. Breen was at the wheel of his Hyundai i20 WRC, which he should have driven during the rally. A few days later, his teammate Esapekka Lappi finished on the podium of the rally, in which Hyundai had decided to participate in tribute to its deceased driver.

This April 13, one year to the day after Craig Breen's fatal accident, the organizers of the Croatia Rally presented a memorial dedicated to the Irishman, at the site of his accident. Located in Lobor, a stele honors the pilot, who died at the age of 33.

A ceremony was organized to present this memorial, in the presence of the head of the rally organizing committee, Daniel Šaškin, and Robert Markt, president of the Croatian Motorsport and Motorsport Federation. karting. The mayor of Lobor, Ljubica Jembrih, placed candles at the scene of the accident, accompanied by members of the rally organization and firefighters from Lobor.

Several Irish flags have also been placed at the memorial. The 2024 edition of the Croatia Rally will be held next weekend, April 19-21. It will constitute the fourth round of the 2024 World Rally Championship.
