Elfyn Evans first leader in Poland

2,50 km were on the menu for the Mikolajki super-special, opening the Rally from Poland this Thursday evening. If the sky spared the course, unlike the starting ceremony canceled earlier in the afternoon, the still damp terrain was favorable to the Ford Fiesta WRC – Dmack by Elfyn Evans.

The Briton was the fastest in 1'44″4 and precedes the Hyundai i20 Thierry Neuville of eight tenths and Sébastien Ogier (Ford) by nine tenths. Jari-Matti Latvala places first Toyota Yaris in fourth position ahead of the second Ford Fiesta M-Sport byOtt Tänak.

Sixth at 1″5, Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) however complained of a possible engine problem on his Yaris. The Finn is ahead of the Hyundai i20 of Hayden Paddon, the two Citroën C3s of Stéphane Lefebvre and Andreas Mikkelsen and the Hyundai i20 of Dani Sordo, who completes the top 10 of this ES. 11th time, Juho Hänninen (Toyota) was penalized 10″ for a stolen start.

Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5) was fastest in WRC-2, ahead of Gus Greensmith (Ford Fiesta R5). In the Junior WRC, Terry Folb got the best start.

The first special of the first real stage of the Rally Poland will begin tomorrow at 7:15 a.m., and will be followed, like the entire event, live with our live text.
