Elfyn Evans will not be there in Germany

The back injury sustained during Rally from Estonia by Elfyn Evans had prevented the Welshman from competing in the Rally Finland last weekend, and will also force the driver M-Sport Ford to forfeit the German event (August 23-25).

The resident of Richard Millener's team does not want to take any risk for his health, especially on an asphalt rally as demanding as Germany. “It's very frustrating to miss rallies at such a critical time of the season, but I have to make sure my injury heals well. » says Evans, quoted by the official WRC website.

It now remains for M-Sport Ford to determine who will replace Evans in the Ford Fiesta WRC. Gus Greensmith was called at the last minute to play in Finland, but, as we indicate in issue 2228 of AUTOhebdo, available now in digital version, and on newsstands, M-Sport Ford has other solutions .

The French Eric Camilli (present in Finland with the new Fiesta R5) and Bryan Bouffier (seen in Monte-Carlo and Corsica in 2018) could be chosen, as well as Craig Breen, passed successfully in the Hyundai i20 Coupe in Finland. Hayden Paddon could also be there, the New Zealander being expected in Finland for a while… before destroying his Ford Fiesta in testing. Second chance for the Kiwi driver in Germany?
