At first glance, Estonia and Finland are the same, two rallies on which la Toyota Yaris is dominatrix. Elfyn Evans was the first to stand out with five consecutive best times… then Rovanperä came into action. Some people wonder why do two races so similar 500 km apart. However, differences exist. In the region of the small town of Tartu (180 km south-east of Tallinn, the capital), the organizers have selected very narrow roads which prove extremely technical to negotiate with Rally1s taking up all the space and carrying a boost which , when it is triggered, requires you to choose your line carefully so as not to end up in the trees. Kalle Rovanpera's victories are impressive, especially given his youth in a discipline where knowledge of the terrain and experience are important. But they also illustrate the lack of competitors in the WRC: only two teams, four drivers at most, truly candidates for the title. Isn't the rally a victim of its retrograde, conservative approach, its inability to anticipate the end of the thermal?
