Kris Meeke extends his lead in Mexico

Kris Meeke (Citroën) increased his lead in the Rally of Mexico at the end of the first stage against Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport). The Northern Irishman has a lead of 21 seconds over the three-time world champion, after notably winning the Leon super special.

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) retained his place on the provisional podium, but the Belgian was slowed down by engine outages and now finds himself almost a minute from the lead of the race. His teammates Dani Sordo and Hayden Paddon were victims of the same problems, the Spaniard even being forced to dismount while the New Zealander only occupied 7th place.

Juho Hänninen (Toyota), first leader of the Rally of Mexico, took the opportunity to recover 4th place. The Finn only has a 5s lead sir Ott Tänak (M-Sport). Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) is in 6th place, 9 seconds ahead of Hayden Paddon. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) is only in 9th place. In addition to its opening position on the road, the Yaris WRC have experienced overheating issues.

Éric Camilli (Fiesta R5) completes the top ten, more than half a minute behind WRC 2 leader Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5) after suffering problems with his left-rear suspension.

The second stage of the Rally Mexico will be contested from 15:33 p.m. (French time).
