Latvala cruises to victory in Mexico

Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) could win the Rally from Mexico. The Finn now has a lead of 1’36 over his teammate Sébastien Ogier at the end of the third stage. The three-time world champion will have difficulty making up such a gap despite the 80 km long Guanajuato special to be contested on the last day.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) is now well established in third place following the crash of Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) in SS15. The Norwegian was threatened with a one-minute penalty for showing up early for service. Mads Ostberg (Ford) rose to fourth position ahead of Hayden Paddon (Hyundai), Ott Tänak, Martin Prokop (Ford) and Lorenzo Bertelli (Ford).

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) abandoned in SS12 after going off the road at high speed. The Belgian was taken to hospital for examinations which revealed nothing.

Teemu Suninen (Skoda Fabia R5) occupies ninth place in the standings ahead of Valeriy Gorban (Mini Countryman WRC) while dominating WRC 2 with nearly 20 minutes ahead of Pole Ptaszek Hubert (Peugeot 208 T16 R5). Michel Fabre still remains in the race even though he is the only one entered in WRC 3 in his DS 3 R3T Max.

The final stage of the Rally Mexico will be contested from 15:03 p.m.
