You only need to take a trip to a service park to realize the space that teams competing in WRC2 require today. The days of Jumpers and vans are long gone. The teams now have structures that have nothing to envy of the factories in Rally1. The best example is that of Toksport. Serkan Duru's men sometimes have 6 Skoda Fabias to supervise, which monopolizes several M2s. In order to improve their working conditions, they will have more space. The change is one of 82 proposals that have been reported by Petter Solberg, vice-president of the FIA drivers commission. One of the goals is to allow WRC2 teams to offer a more polished presentation of their respective operations. It is not certain that this transformation of space will occur from Monte-Carlo, because the Gap park is already overflowing, on the other hand the 2e measure will come into force.
End of points for WRC2 in the Power Stage
Since 2021, the first three drivers classified at the end of the Power Stage received 3, 2 and 1 point respectively. After two years of use, this system will be abandoned. With practice, it became apparent that not all WRC2 competitors were operating in the same conditions and that there could be injustices. The field in Rally1 is sometimes so weak that the promoter of WRC is forced to send a few Rally2s first to have correct retransmission time. These 5 or 6 competitors could therefore find themselves at an advantage or disadvantage compared to those who set off after Rally1. The starting orders for this time trial will always remain incomprehensible to laymen (and specialists as often…), but no crew will be harmed. Doubts still remain regarding the size of the Rally1 field next year, but if it remains lean and a Rally2 driver enters the top 5 of the Power Stage, he will score points in the Drivers' World Championship and not WRC2.
