Mads Ostberg and Thierry Neuville share the lead of the Rally Portugal after the opening super special.

Ostberg and Neuville leaders in Portugal

Lousada, the opening super special of Rally of Portugal, only 3,36km long, did not create any real gaps. Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) share the lead of the race after completing the course in 2'36''6. Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) completes the top three by a tenth.

Elfyn Evans (Ford) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai) complete the top five, less than half a second behind the leaders. Sébastien Ogier (Ford) follows in 6th place, 7 tenths from the reference. Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) is 8th between the Toyota by Jari-Matti Latvala and Juho Hänninen.

Kris Meeke (Citroën) completes the top ten ahead of his teammate Craig Breen. Ott Tänak (Ford) is 12th, more than 2 seconds behind the leaders, preceding Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) who is making his first rally on WRC.

Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) leads WRC 2 ahead of Teemu Suninen (Ford) and Pontus Tidemand (Skoda). Éric Camilli (Ford) is more than 4 seconds behind the Norwegian.

The first stage of the Rally Portugal will begin this Friday, May 19 at 11:09 a.m. French time.
