Leading the Safari Rally Kenya since the second special, Kalle Rovanperä delivered a real performance to win with a 1'37″ lead over his teammate Takamoto Katsuta. The reigning double world champion was even able to afford to only finish eighth on Sunday, such was his lead.

Rovanperä thus signs a twelfth victory in WRC, he who is now working part-time. After a Rally from Sweden very complicated, the pilot Toyota bounces back in the best possible way. It also offers the Japanese brand its first victory of the season, after two successes Hyundai.

“It’s always special, this rally is so difficult. We have always been good here with the team and it continues! As they say in Africa, it's always a Toyota in front! Thanks to the team, everyone worked hard to make the car work well”, he declared at the last stop point, following the Power Stage on Sunday.

Satisfaction of a job well done

If the Toyotas performed very well throughout the event, Kalle Rovanperä is aware of having achieved a very good performance. Sometimes fast, sometimes more cautious when the conditions demanded it, he and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen produced a perfect copy!

“I think Janne and I did a good job too. I think you can't make a better Safari Rally than this. I had no problems all weekend, I was able to produce some intelligent driving, it was really good. »

At 23, Kalle Rovanperä wins his second Safari Rally, after his victory in 2022. The reigning world champion will not be found in Croatia for the next round of the championship. In fact, he shares the third Toyota with Sébastien Ogier, who will be entered for this asphalt round.
